The Egan Ride is subject to Alto Velo's Ride Rules and all participants must sign an annual waiver.
Note: During the Egan off season, The Climbing Ride is held monthly on Sundays, starting at 9am at the Los Altos Chamber of Commerce. Slightly longer than Egan, it features crazy steep hills in places like Los Gatos, Emerald Hills, and Hillsborough. To paraphrase Winston Churchill, "If you are going up hill, keep going".

Eganeers,
I'll remember Egan 2022.10 forever thanks to the surprise birthday cake at the top of John Marthens Lane. Thank you Jerome (and my wife Stacy) for organizing it! The cake was the icing on an awesome route to Portola Valley that included Minoca Rd and both sides of Golden Oak. I couldn't have asked for a better birthday gift :-)

Ride Splitting: If the ride reaches a large enough size, we will split into multiple groups with one group leaving a few minutes after the first. This is for safety, too many folks on some of the smaller roads can be an issue.

Casper van Oosten -- who hosted Terún pizzas in his driveway last week -- was rider of the day with 11 PRs! Among the women riders, Robin Betz had 7 PRs and 1 cup. It was great to see her back on the Egan ride! And it's no surprise that Steven Wu bagged another Club KOM, this time on De Bell.
Eganeers,
Yesterday's Egan ride was the twisted brainchild of Mike Kato and former Egan leader James Nicol. James had come up with the idea of "progressive intervals" where each segment was longer than the previous one. Now that James is down under, Mike decided to do this in reverse, starting with the longest segments first. I thought the ride was a big success, and thanks to Mike for his creativity!

Egan Ride #2022.09 @ 6PM @ Los Altos Chamber of Commerce
Egan Riders,
This week we have a special route that was inspired by James Nicol. He called his signature route “progressions" as each segment is a little longer/steeper/harsher than the last. Since he has moved down under and they do mostly everything the opposite as here, we thought we’d do his signature route in reverse form. The theme for the night is progressive regressive intervals, mostly shortening as the night progresses. None of this progression nonsense James seems to like ;-)
See you all on Tuesday!

Dear Eganeers,
Yesterday's Egan ride was truly a team effort. Steven Wu designed the route, Greg Finley led the ride, and Jerome Sierra coordinated the pizza logistics at the top Tepa :-)
The pain of climbing Blandor/Olive Tree was soon forgotten once we were all rewarded with an amazing assortment of pizzas from Terun. Many thanks to Casper van Oosten and Helena Plasschaert for their hospitality in hosting the Egan riders in their driveway, as well as Franco Campilongo from Terun for feeding a bunch of hungry cyclists!

Egan - 2022 #8, Tuesday May 3rd at 6pm, featuring super secret bonus segments!
Hello Eganeers!
We've got a slightly shorter route planned for this week, but we're making up for it with thirteen (!) segments including Mora and the first jaunt up Blandor/Olive Tree for the year. The other reason that we're keeping it short is because we're adding some super-secret, first time for Egan bonus segments at the end of the ride! More details will be provided at the beginning of the ride, and no fair looking at Egan ride leader's route recon for hints, we want it to be a surprise :D
So without further ado, here's the route info:

Eganeers,
Steven Wu, in his debut as an Egan leader, put on a great ride last night that focused mainly on short, punchy climbs off Page Mill Rd. There were also several segments that were geared (pun intended) towards sprinters.

Egan 2022.07, Tues 4/26
Hi Eganers!
Here is another episode of Tuesday Egan adventure! The route this week consists of a good mixture of short and long segments so you will find some hills that you can thrive on! The main course this week is a quick succession of short segments along Page Mill and we will end on our favorite Egan intersection via La Cresta.
Since we will spend quite a bit of time on Page Mill, I will emphasize again on our yellow line rule and please respect the traffic. Also if you are a new rider, please complete the waiver online (see information below) and we no longer accept printed versions at the start.

Egan 2022.06, Tues 4/19, 6pm (Moody!)
Eganeers,
It's an honor to lead my first Egan ride! I'll be stepping into some really really big shoes: Dirk Bergstrom who led Egan for almost a decade and more recently James Nicol who's moving back down under. But unlike those guys, I'm quite a bit slower. So I'll be leading from the middle of the pack :-)
Episode 6 of this season's ride will feature some of your favorite segments, including Rhus Ridge, Moody (!), Altamont Circle and Edgerton. In fact, these 4 segments will happen one after the other so be sure to get plenty of rest in between them.
Note: there's a slight chance of rain on Tuesday. In the event we need to cancel the ride due to rain, I'll still be at the start of the ride as a courtesy. Even though we need the rain, let's all hope that it remains dry this Tuesday evening.
