Alto Velo welcomes non-members to join us on our rides. However, non-members must have a Waiver on file with the club. We use the BikeReg app for this. It is free of charge. Go to https://www.bikereg.com/alto-velo-guest-waiver to initiate the process, esign the waiver and you are good to go for riding with AV for 2022.
You must be vaccinated to ride with Alto Velo.

On the Peet's Ride we enjoy a more moderate workout than the other Alto Velo rides (tho a workout it is). We practice group riding skills & communication in a supportive controlled paceline. This week's ride will take the time honored The Usual Route which features 4 intermediate climbs that riders are welcome to attack as hard as you like.

Time: Saturday, gather at 9am. rolling by 9:15am
Location: Los Altos Chamber of Commerce Parking Lot (https://g.page/losaltoschamber?share)
Protocol: Double paceline when conditions allow, jamming as hard as you like on the 4 climbs (Sandhill after 280, Edgewood, Jefferson, Huddart), regrouping & sticking together otherwise.

RIDE ETIQUETTE:
• Introduce yourself to new riders. If you're a new rider, introduce yourself at the start of the ride.
• Roll out from the start/regroups gently so everyone has a chance to warm up and get going.
• Use hand signals and call out turns, stops and road obstructions.. Repeat the message through the group.
• Mechanicals: relay the message to the front. Help out as you can. Wait for the delayed riders at the next regroup.
• Ride a mostly non-rotating double paceline on the flats. Ride leader may initiate a rotating paceline at their discretion.
• Follow behind the wheel in front and don't overlap wheels to avoid the bunch spilling over the road.
• If you leave a ride early, let someone know so the group doesn't think they lost you
RIDE SAFETY:
• Riders should carry Medical ID that contains your name and emergency contact information. Additional helpful information includes any medical history. Two IDs are preferable.
• Riders must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or should mask up and maintain distance from the group.
• Riders must wear a helmet.
• Riders are always responsible for their own safety. If you feel uncomfortable riding with the group, gently move to the rear of the group. If you're new to group riding, make this known to the ride leader and ask for help.
• Look for yourself for cars and other road users, and OBEY TRAFFIC rules – you are responsible
• Do NOT cross the center line. You will be asked to leave the ride if you do so
• Protect your front wheel, do not cross wheels
• Do not make sudden lateral movements at any time
• Be gentle on brakes so as not to suddenly stop in front of someone
• No Aero Bar use
• No Ear Bud or headphone use. It is important that you are able to hear warning calls and approaching traffic.
