40mi 3000ft
Pls check in with me when you arrive at Summit. Introduce yourself to the group.
The AV C Ride is subject to Alto Velo's Ride Rules (read them!) and all participants must sign an annual waiver.
Helmets required, no sudden lateral moves, call out hazards, call out mechanical problems, avoid The Slinky, …
Non - Members: Alto Velo welcomes non-members to join us on our rides. However, non-members must have a Waiver on file with the club.
In addition to the picnic and other social events, Alto Velo Membership benefits include useful discounts on our sponsors services & products & opportunities to give back on behalf of the cycling community.
Time: Saturday, gather at 9am. rolling by 9:15am
Start: Summit Bikes - 392 California Ave, Palo Alto, CA
Summit is Alto Velo's sponsoring bike shop.
Protocol: Double paceline when conditions allow, jam as hard as you like on the climbs, occasional sprint OK, soft pedal for an in-flight regroup when separate
Regroup at the top of every major climb and every significant descent — everyone descends at their own safe speed
Bring two water bottles.
Route highlights: Short climbs through Los Alto hills, regroup @ the quarry, back roads to Rancho San Antonio, regroup @ the water tank. Water stop in the park. Out of the park and around reservoir, a fast decent to Pierce. a short steep climb to Parker Ranch, another fast decent to Prospect then back to Summit. There may be an audible if the group is willing
Regroups: will complement rolling regroups with stops every 10-15mi, next stop will be called out at each stop.
On the C Ride we emphasize group riding skills & communication in a supportive, controlled environment. We will keep the group together when not climbing nor descending.
