AV-B Ride Jan 4: A Montebello New Year

Happy New Year!

We are throwing it back to my first AV-B ride and returning to Montebello. This time, the whole road is open and will not feature a 23% gravel section. We will start by going down Foothill and warming up with an out-and-back through the beautiful Stevens Canyon Road. We’ll then stop for water/bathrooms at the usual Canyon picnic area before tackling Montebello. Pace will of course be reasonable but you are welcome to smash the climb if you’d like. After a regroup at the top, we will cautiously descend the likely damp pavement before meandering home through Rancho San Antonio and Los Altos. This route hopefully has something new for everyone. We’ll start at Summit Bicycles and end at Backyard Brew.

We’ll regroup at the gate at the top of Stevens Canyon Road, then have a water/bathroom stop at Canyon Picnic Area. Next regroup will be at the top of Montebello. The descent will separate the group, so we can turn right off of Montebello and meet 500m down the road at Lakeshore Picnic Area for a final regroup & water top-off before heading back through Rancho San Antonio and Los Altos.
