The 9th Annual Pescadero Coastal Classic

A Benefit for South Coast Children's Services

When: Saturday, June 24, 2006.  Registration opens 7:00am; closes 15 minutes before each race.

Where: Registration and start at Pescadero High School on Butano Cut-Off Road.  Take Pescadero Rd. inland from Hwy 1 about 3 miles; turn right onto Cloverdale  Rd;  then left onto Butano Cut-Off Rd.  Pescadero is between Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz.
 
Course: Spectacular 28-mile loop through coastal dunes and redwood groves consisting of Stage Rd., Hwy 84 and Pescadero Rd.  1500' of climbing per lap including the epic Haskin's Hill grade.  Start with promenade from the High School to Pescadero town center.  Then, wind up for the first sprint prime before the first climb on Stage Rd.  Use caution on the steep and twisty descents.  Fair to good pavement.  Feed zone located after right turn on Pescadero Rd. from Hwy 84.  Finish at top of Haskin's Hill  Cars NOT allowed at the finish line or along Stage Rd.  Do NOT drive to the finish line (your rider will be subject to disqualification).  To reach Feed Zone, use Hwys. 1 and 84.

Entries: Online registration available at sportsbaseonline.com; see altovelo.org/rr06 for details or send a standard USCF entrry/release form with check (payable to "Alto Velo") to Pescadero Coastal Classic, c/o Leo Menestrina, 3806 Dunford Way, Santa Clara, CA 95051, 408/246-3305, leo dot menestrina at sbcglobal dot net.  Fee includes $2 USCF and $1 NCNCA insurance surcharge.  Entries postmarked after June 18 and race day registration, add $5.  Current NCNCA road champions race for $10 if entry post-marked by June 18 and is in category of championship (masters may race down, juniors up).  $5 of the entry fee goes to SCCS.  No refunds.

Rules: Held rain or shine.  This is a USA Cycling-insured event held under USA Cycling event permit.  USCF license required.  One-day licenses may be purchased at registration for $10.  Part of the NorCal's Women's Points series.  Be respectful and courteous to the locals at all times; we are guests in their neighborhood.  Follow the rules of the road while warming up.  Center line rule enforced.   Do not litter.  Use portapotties.
